Langdale Barn Reviews

“Oh wow! What a spectacular property and location.”
Owners really friendly and helpful. Lovely scones, jam and cream on arrival. Spotlessly clean, spacious, cosy, warm and very comfortable – beds included. So enjoyed sitting in front of log burner watching the wildlife on the CCTV and birds feeding in the garden. SMART tv in every room and WIFI great. Well equipped large kitchen area and good sized table for meals. The tranquility was a real tonic. New Inn traditional pub is a few minutes walk and food/ Sunday roast lovely. Okehampton for shops, supermarkets etc only 10-15 minutes drive. We will definitely be back. Honestly believe we will struggle to find anything better.

“We had a great stay at Langdale Barn.”
The house was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities needed for a self catering holiday. The small lake onsite was nice for a walk, and the owner sent us lots of videos of the wildlife during our stay. Otters, owl, fox – all so lovely to see. The location was ideal to explore nearby areas and as I had to work during our stay, the road connections were ideal for the places he had to get to as well. WiFi at the property was great for working and watching streaming services. We had a very small issue with the hot water one of the days, but the owner came and got it sorted straight away so it didn’t impact our stay at all. Would definitely stay here again.

“A beautiful barn with lovely views and surroundings to enjoy.”
Equipped and furnished to a very high standard, we were very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed watching the birds in the garden, and the otter and owl on the webcam connected to the TV. A quiet village with a super pub within walking distance. Helpful and friendly owners live in the adjacent house.

“From the moment we walked in, it was warm and welcoming.”
There was a lovely array of clotted cream with some scones and tea ready to use. There was also a little selection of bits our dog. The host popped over on the first evening to make sure everything was ok and throughout the week they were so accommodating with anything we needed and so friendly whenever we happened to see them around. Would highly recommend not only is it a beautiful accommodation and great hosts. They really do think of all the small things.

“What a lovely place to stay.”
This is our second visit. The accommodation is very warm, excellent for a wee December break. The woodburner is a cosy bonus. Everywhere is very clean, all we needed was provided…and more. Even luxury touches such as the dressing gowns in the bathrooms, the movement sensitive low lighting for safety when moving around in the dark and the rainfall shower. Loved the walk round the lake and watching the nature cams on the tv screen. And the goats were so friendly. All in all we would strongly recommend.

“We had a fantastic stay at Langdale Barn, warmly welcomed by our host and a beautiful cream-tea and cookies and treats on arrival.”
This is a lovely place to stay, tucked away in a gorgeous classic sleepy Devon village. The barn is superb, lovely artistic touches everywhere, superb wood-burner (great wood supply), very comfortable beds and bedding, calm, cosy and warm. The bonus of watching our host’s wildlife tv was really very special. The barn is dog friendly – gorgeous enclosed garden with stunning views – perfect for bird watchers, treats and necessities were supplied for our pup as-well – thank you. The property is spotless with absolutely everything you need for a relaxing laidback holiday. The history is deep here and you can feel it everywhere. Take a walk through the village and dip into St.Andrew’s Church, so peaceful. This wonderful barn is really worth a visit. We’d love to return to this spot

“A perfect week in perfect accommodation.”
Good base for exploring Dartmoor then returning to the barn for a fabulous shower. Later, a stroll down through the village for a lovely dinner in The New Inn. An added bonus are videos of the wildlife around the property.

“An absolute gem of a property.”
The photos online don’t do it justice, as its lovelier in real life. Lovely, friendly owners. The barn is bright, airy and spotlessly clean. The large windows provide for a wonderful panoramic view of the private garden (with its partially covered patio) and the fields in the distance. It is equipped and appointed to a very high standard. The bed was extremely comfortable. Wonderful treat to have a separate bath and shower – and bathrobes. Near the edge of a peaceful, thatched filled village and within easy walking distance of a dog friendly pub. Great location from which to explore Devon and Cornwall. Already booked to go back next year – can’t wait.

“We had a lovely time at Langdale Barn; our second stay there.”
Very peaceful location and a great garden with large patio area to relax and enjoy the sunny weather and the multitude of birds on the feeders. Langdale is situated at the edge of a beautiful well kept village; the New Inn pub just a 10 min walk from the property. Owners friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. Parking/unloading easy for one car. Milk, scones and wine much appreciated as welcome gifts. We loved the overnight wildlife cameras footage. Would stay again and highly recommend. July 2025

Very clean and comfortable, with friendly, helpful owners. The garden is full of wildbrids and very acrobatic squirrels feeding on the 7 bird feeders that are set up. A good central place to explore from.

“A lovely property in a great location with all amenities one could wish for!”
Everything was well thought through and we enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The kitchen is well equipped, the shower is fantastic and the garden was a great bonus. I probably have spent hours watching the birds on the feeders and checking in on the other wildlife down at the lake. The pub in walking distance was very convenient for a quick bite and a fab sunday roast.

Quick contact to arrange bed layout. Accommodation was fantastic and in a lovely peaceful area but not far for walks or days out with the children. Garden was safe and secure for our dog to be out in. Booked again for later in the year.

The owners went beyond standard care, thinking of little things like board games, a folder with suggestions of where to eat and visit, the wild live cameras were the best touch and gave us lovely moments as a family to just watch and chill.
